School-to-Career
The Government and Human Services Academy is based on Bassick’s School-to-Career model. All students in the Academy will participate in activities that will help to connect their classroom learning to real world experiences in the fields of Government and Human Services. Students visit job sites, have internships, create career portfolios and have an opportunity to interact with Government and Human Services professionals as a means of gaining knowledge and skills for career success in this field.

Bassick High School graduates have made their mark in the areas of Government and Human Services. Bassick Alumni have achieved great success in Law, Civil Service, Healthcare, Education, Childcare, Psychology, Social Work, Criminal Justice, and in the Military. Service to the community and helping others are integral to the traditions of Bassick High School.
Students in the Government and Human Services Academy have the opportunity to participate in the John F. Kennedy Scholars Program at Choate-Rosemary Hall, and will qualify for numerous scholarships to assist in post-secondary education expenses.
