ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

THE BASSICK VISUAL ARTS DEPARTMENT IS A COMPONENT OF THE BASSICK ARTS & MEDIA ACADEMY.

The Arts & Media Academy provides students with an opportunity to master skills in many areas of the visual arts, performing arts and communications.  The Academy is a series of related classes where students develop an understanding of the skills and attributes needed for success in a career in the arts.

The focus of the Academy is on both classroom learning and real world experiences such as field trips, exhibitions, internships and job shadowing.

Students are encouraged to develop their talents & skills in the small learning environment of the Arts & Media Cluster.  Academy teachers use school and community resources to foster individual growth in each student.

Bassick art students participate in a variety of off campus activities such as field trips, internships, and the student docent program sponsored by The Aldrich Museum in Ridgefield, Connecticut.  Video arts students travel to Sound View Community Media to produce Bassick’s TV show Basically Bassick.  During the summer, qualified juniors receive scholarships to attend the Center For Creative Youth, a six week program that brings together talented young artists from across New England.
